Hurricane Update, Monday, 9/4

Dear STE Community,

We are excited to share that we have raised $31,000 in the first day of our matching gift challenge. Remember that every dollar raised by Friday will be matched by STE parent Eric Langan, up to $250,000. Combined with the $228,000 we have already received in gifts and pledges, we are already well on our way to our $650,000 short-term goal. Please do keep sharing so that we can raise the additional funds we need.

water-damaged pewsToday there was again much activity on campus as volunteers came to help us start demo work on some of our damaged buildings. Given that Servpro has completed its contracted work, we have a need for additional volunteers age 18 and older to continue the demo work under the supervision of a team leader. For STE’s protection, we need volunteers to sign a liability waiver.

If you are available, please meet at 9:00 a.m. in the main courtyard at STE tomorrow, September 5. Bring the following items if you have them:
• Gloves
• Safety goggles
• Dust masks
• Sledgehammers
• Crow bars
• Circular saws
You should dress for dirty construction work and wear work boots, hiking boots, or sturdy shoes. Once volunteers arrive on campus we will have a safety meeting and divide into teams to ensure efficient work. Food and water will be provided for volunteers.

We will most likely need volunteers for the rest of the week, so if you are unable to come tomorrow please consider coming later in the week. For additional information on this volunteer work, contact Susan Wescott at or 713-822-4460.

For our Upper School families, we hope you will be able to attend the Upper School Parent Night on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the STE theatre. Because we will be discussing information regarding the temporary move to Houston Christian Assembly, we invite Upper School students to attend the event as well.

We thank God for the support shown to us from within Houston and beyond. Please continue to keep our community in your prayers.
