Our popular Christmas concert presents holiday music for brass band, bagpipes, organ, and chorus. Music includes selected works for brass as well as the world premiere of a Christmas Cantata: The Mouse’s Tale, a commissioned work written especially for the choirs of St. Thomas’ and the Houston Brass Band.
The illustrious composer, Philip Wilby, chose lyrics by poet Ian McMillan, telling the story of a lonely, unnoticed mouse named Chris, who dwells in a church at the time of a production of a Nativity play. Chris Mouse is present at the arrival of the three Wise Men, and comes to understand and feel the Christmas spirit.
Following the concert, all are welcome to stay for a reception and meet composer Philip Wilby.
