Good Friday Service
March 30, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Good Friday is the darkest service in the church year, commemorating the death of Jesus, the second person of the Trinity. Good came to live and minister to us, and died at our hands at the end of his earthly ministry. It is “Good” because God planned it from before the beginning of time, to reconcile us to the Father, to buy us back from the world, the flesh and the devil, to offer up the perfect Lamb, to justify us by taking our sin upon himself and giving us his righteousness as a gift. That is the meaning of the cross: we call it the Atonement. There is no Easter without Good Friday.
The service is Ante-Communion, that part of the Communion service called the Liturgy of the Word. The Liturgy of the Table is reserved for Easter.
