Altar Guild

The Altar Guild prepares the altar, communion vessels and the priests’ vestments for all services, and maintains them between services. They also provide wine and bread for communion.

In addition to regular Sunday services, the Altar Guild helps prepare for weddings, funerals, and baptisms, and decorates the Church for holidays and other special occasions.

New members are always welcome.

Lay Ministers

In Episcopal churches, lay people take active roles in our worship services. At Saint Thomas’, these are:

Lay Readers

Lay Readers read the Bible lessons for the day, and, in services without music, they lead the congregation in reciting the psalms and canticles.

Chalice Bearers

Chalice Bearers assist the Priests and Deacons (ordained clergy) at Holy Communion by administering the Cup.

Worship Leaders

Worship Leaders lead services of Morning and Evening Prayer.

Ushers

Ushers welcome all comers to our services in the name of Jesus Christ and help those needing assistance, whether because of unfamiliarity with the service, or due to infirmity.

At Saint Thomas’, service as an usher is one of the ministries the Men of the Parish have undertaken as their own.

Greeters

Greeters are an important part of our church community. Greeters welcome regular members and visitors with a smile, hug or handshake as they arrive through the doors. Greeters give visitors any welcome gifts the church may be distributing. They also give them fliers and brochures for church ministries they may be interested in joining.

Hospitality Ministry

Coffee Hour Hospitality
The hospitality ministry helps with fellowship by providing snacks to accompany the coffee hour after church. We are happy to welcome ministries, individuals and families as being part of the rotation. We ask that you provide the equivalent of 3-4 dozen (more on special Sundays) items for the coffee/reception table. These can be homemade, or store bought. They can be set out after the start of service, and you may decorate the table if you wish! Coffee and such are prepared by the Sexton. Would you like to be part of the hospitality ministry?

Contact Karen Peterson to offer your participation.
